Software Engineer

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Software Engineer for its Enterprise Data Platforms team in Pune. The role focuses on evolving infrastructure and deployment pipelines, building robust and secure automation, and supporting enterprise BI platforms such as Tableau and Power BI. The engineer will design, develop, test, and improve scalable software solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized software solutions.
• Build and manage robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Develop Python applications and automation scripts.
• Work with REST APIs, JSON, configuration files, and automation frameworks.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, automated deployment, and environment promotion.
• Support enterprise BI platforms, preferably Tableau and Power BI.
• Work with Linux, job scheduling, authentication, credentials, and operational monitoring.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and solution strategies.
• Participate in code reviews and promote software quality and knowledge sharing.
• Implement unit testing practices to ensure reliable and maintainable code.
• Follow secure coding practices and contribute to risk and control requirements.
• Stay updated with technology trends and contribute to technology communities.

Requirements

• Strong Python development and scripting capability.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, configuration files, and automation frameworks.
• Understanding of CI/CD, Git-based development, automated deployment, and environment promotion.
• Experience supporting enterprise BI platforms, preferably Tableau and/or Power BI.
• Knowledge of Linux, job scheduling, authentication, credentials, and operational monitoring.
