Software Engineer

About the role

Canonical is hiring Software Engineers to build open-source technologies powering Ubuntu and cloud infrastructure. Engineers will work on large-scale distributed systems, collaborate with global teams, contribute to open-source projects, and develop software used by millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software
• Contribute to open-source projects and Linux ecosystem
• Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams
• Write clean, scalable, and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or another STEM discipline
• Strong programming skills in Python, Rust, C/C++, Go, JavaScript, or Java
• Experience using Ubuntu or another Linux distribution
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Strong academic record and personal software engineering projects
