About the role
Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer for the Azure Data engineering team in Bangalore. The role focuses on building and scaling capacity management infrastructure for Azure SQL Database and enabling reliable, secure, and scalable cloud database experiences for mission-critical workloads. The engineer will design, build, and operate scalable services responsible for capacity allocation, placement, and lifecycle management of Azure SQL Database workloads. The role involves working with platform primitives, microservices, automation, observability, CI/CD, test automation, telemetry-driven development, and DevOps workflows. Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable services for Azure SQL Database workloads.
- Develop services that manage capacity allocation, placement, and workload lifecycle.
- Improve service reliability, performance, and availability through automation and observability.
- Build systems focused on incident prevention and operational excellence.
- Work with cross-functional teams across Azure Data to deliver resilient customer-focused solutions.
- Develop and maintain platform primitives and microservices.
- Contribute to end-to-end service health for mission-critical SQL Database workloads.
- Use CI/CD and automated testing practices.
- Apply telemetry-driven development to improve service reliability and performance.
- Work with DevOps workflows and modern engineering practices.
- Build tooling, frameworks, and automation to improve developer productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience coding in at least one programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and applicable security screening requirements.
