About the role

CleverBooks is hiring SDE Interns for a remote software development opportunity. Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and safely modify existing code without breaking working functionality.
• Trace incorrect numbers through data to identify root causes and fix the underlying logic.
• Build and debug reconciliation and data-integrity features across the MERN stack.
• Handle edge cases involving missing data, duplicates, mismatched sources, and partial returns.
• Verify work to ensure numbers and data tie out correctly.
• Clearly explain what was changed and why.

Requirements

• Comfortable with JavaScript and the MERN stack, or able to learn the stack quickly.
• Ability to understand an unfamiliar codebase and modify it safely.
• Strong debugging instinct and ability to identify root causes rather than simply patching issues.
• Strong focus on correctness and edge cases.
• Clear written communication skills.
• A strong sense of user needs and product thinking is a plus.
