Responsibilities
- Travel to DISCOM sites across India and work with utility engineering, planning, and operations teams.
- Acquire, clean, structure, and analyse large-scale operational datasets.
- Work with SCADA, smart-meter, GIS, billing, and weather datasets.
- Partner with ML and engineering teams to tune and deploy forecasting and grid-analysis models.
- Own the data side of ML deployments and feed insights into model development.
- Architect and ship cloud-native data pipelines on GCP.
- Support procurement, compliance, rollout, and live deployment with utility leadership.
- Identify product gaps from field deployments and communicate them to the core engineering team.
- Execute tasks independently with strong ownership and minimal hand-holding.
Requirements
- Degree in engineering, computer science, or a quantitative discipline.
- Strong programming fundamentals in Python.
- Comfort with SQL and pandas.
- Working knowledge of at least one ML framework such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, or PyTorch.
- Experience working with large and messy real-world datasets.
- Comfort with cloud infrastructure such as GCP or AWS.
- Familiarity with modern data tooling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel within India, including to DISCOM offices at short notice.
- Strong ownership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in an early-stage startup environment.
