Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and testing of embedded software modules.
- Learn how mission-specific microcontrollers are integrated into spacecraft systems.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and testing.
- Support debugging and troubleshooting of embedded systems.
- Contribute to writing and testing small software modules with mentorship and code review support.
- Document and communicate design decisions and progress.
- Collaborate with subsystem engineers to define and advance software specifications.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of programming concepts through coursework or college projects.
- Basic knowledge of C or C++.
- Awareness of Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Conceptual understanding of multithreading and concurrency.
- Basic awareness of serial communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Familiarity with ARM microcontrollers or embedded microcontrollers such as STM32, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
- Basic comfort with command-line interfaces.
- Familiarity with Git or another version control tool.
- Familiarity with a scripting language such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
- Ability to read basic circuit diagrams.
- Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Willingness to learn and work with a large and complex codebase with mentorship.
