About the role
H2Loop is hiring Applied AI Engineer Interns in Bengaluru to work on Hydron, an AI coding agent designed for hardware and embedded engineers. Interns will contribute to a production AI coding platform that operates through a CLI and VS Code extension, with applications across embedded systems, robotics, UAVs, avionics, automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial IoT. The role involves shipping features, fixing bugs, improving developer experience, and bringing useful ideas from modern coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor into Hydron. The internship runs for 3-6 months, with 6 months preferred for students and typically 3-4 months for graduates. Responsibilities
- Ship features end-to-end across the Hydron CLI agent runtime and VS Code extension.
- Reproduce bugs, write tests, fix root causes, and verify fixes.
- Track developments in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other coding agent tools.
- Evaluate emerging AI coding agent capabilities and identify ideas that can improve Hydron.
- Adapt useful AI agent patterns for embedded and hardware engineering workflows.
- Improve Hydron's TUI interactions, output, error messages, onboarding, and overall user experience.
- Improve developer experience through better testing, typechecking, tooling, scripts, and workflows.
- Build automated tests, scripts, and documentation to ensure fixes remain reliable.
- Own scoped features from design and implementation through testing, review, and deployment.
- Investigate ambiguous problems independently and make informed technical decisions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated engineering ability through a substantial project, open-source contribution, or difficult systems problem.
- Strong TypeScript or JavaScript experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and modify a large existing codebase.
- Heavy hands-on experience using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar AI coding agents.
- Ability to independently investigate problems and develop working solutions without detailed specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and engineering skills.
- Ability to reason about technical tradeoffs and clearly explain implementation decisions.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
